How to use the teleprompter
A free teleprompter and camera recorder in one browser tab. No account, no install, and nothing you record is uploaded.
Record your first take
- Add your script. Tap the text on the prompter and type, or paste a script in. You can also tap Write with AI under the text.
- Allow the camera. When your browser asks, let the page use your camera and microphone.
- Record. Press the red button. After the countdown the words scroll up. Read the line between the two red marks, which sits close to the camera.
- Save. Press the red button again to stop. Watch the take, then tap Download. On a phone you can also save it to Photos.
Edit the script
The text on the prompter is the script. Tap it and type, like any text box. Changes save as you go and are still there next time you open the page on this device.
- Paste reads your clipboard and cleans up what AI apps add, such as markdown, a "Here's your script:" line and the teleprompter link.
- Undo appears after a paste, an AI script or a link replaces your text, and brings the old text back.
- While the text is scrolling or recording it can't be edited. Tap it to pause first.
- Press
Escor tap outside the text when you're done editing.

| Play or pause the scroll | Space | Play button, or tap the text |
| Move the text | ↑ ↓ | Mouse wheel or swipe on the text |
| Slower or faster | ← → | − and + beside the speed |
| Start or stop recording | Red button (press during the countdown to cancel) | |

Settings
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Camera and microphone | Pick any connected device |
| Countdown | Off, 3, 5 or 10 seconds |
| Time limit | None by default, so recording runs until you stop it. Or choose 30 seconds, 1 minute or 3 minutes and recording stops by itself at the limit. |
| Scroll speed | 5 to 160 |
| Text size | 20 to 96 px |
| Mirror camera | Flips the preview so it moves like a mirror. The saved video is not flipped. |
| Mirror text | Flips the script for teleprompter glass that reflects a screen. |
Video files
Chrome, Edge and Safari save MP4 (H.264 video, AAC sound), which plays everywhere. Firefox can only save WEBM; it plays in Chrome and VLC, and you can convert it to MP4 for an iPhone or a video editor. The Settings panel says which format your browser saves.
Files are named teleprompter-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.mp4 and are saved straight to your device.
Write the script with AI
Tap Write with AI, say what the video is about, and pick a length and tone. Then choose one of two ways:
With your own AI account (no key needed)
Pick ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Grok and the AI opens in a new tab with the prompt filled in. For Gemini the prompt is copied, so you paste it. When you come back, the Paste button turns red; copy the script in the AI and tap it.
With an API key, right on the page
Open Write it here with my own API key, pick a provider and paste your key. Supported: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, DeepSeek, Mistral, and any OpenAI-compatible URL (for example a local Ollama). Your browser sends the request straight to that provider. If a provider blocks requests from web pages, use OpenRouter, which works from any browser.
Open a script from a link
Add the script after #script=, URL-encoded, and the page opens with that script loaded:
https://teleprompt.net/#script=Hello%20there.%0A%0ASecond%20paragraph.
The part after # never reaches a server. Use %0A for a new line and %0A%0A between paragraphs. The prompt that Write with AI sends asks the AI to add this link under the script, so you can just click it.
The connector sends a short link instead, #s= followed by an id and a key. It works for 30 days. If short links are unavailable it sends #z= with the script compressed with deflate and encoded as base64url. All three forms work.
Claude connector
Add the teleprompter to Claude once. After that, when Claude writes you a script, it can give you a link that opens here with the script loaded.
Set it up
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Teleprompter and paste this URL:
https://teleprompt.net/api/mcp - Save. No sign-in is needed.
Use it
Ask for a script, then ask Claude to open it in the teleprompter. For example:
Write a 60-second intro for my coffee shop's Instagram, then open it in the teleprompter.
Claude replies with a link. Tap it, allow the camera, and press the red button.
Tool reference
| Server | Remote MCP, Streamable HTTP, no authentication: https://teleprompt.net/api/mcp |
|---|---|
| Tool | open_in_teleprompter (read-only) |
| Input | script: the full script as plain text, paragraphs separated by an empty line. Up to 20,000 characters. |
| Output | A link that opens the teleprompter with the script loaded, as a markdown link in the text and as structuredContent.url. In chat apps that support MCP Apps, the teleprompter also opens inside the chat. |
| Data | The script is stored encrypted for 30 days so the link can be short. The key is only in the link, so nobody without the link can read it. Nothing is logged. See the privacy policy. |
ChatGPT and other AI apps
Any AI app that can add a remote MCP server can use the same URL, https://teleprompt.net/api/mcp. In ChatGPT this means turning on developer mode and adding it as a custom connector.
Without a connector, it still works: the prompt from Write with AI asks the AI to end its answer with a teleprompter link, and you can always copy the script and tap Paste.
If something doesn't work
- "Camera is blocked." Allow the camera in the address bar or your browser's site settings, then tap Turn on camera.
- "Camera is busy." Close other apps using it, such as Zoom, Meet or FaceTime.
- Nothing happens in an in-app browser (Instagram, Facebook, LINE). Open the link in Safari or Chrome instead.
- No sound in the video. Check the microphone in Settings. If no microphone was found, the page records video only and tells you.
- Paste does nothing. Some browsers block reading the clipboard. Tap the text and press
Ctrl+VorCmd+V.
